SpaceX's Monday December 21, 2015 launch of the Falcon 9 rocket made history. Apart from carrying and successfully deploying 11 satellites for ORBCOMM, in its first time SpaceX successfully landed its first stage. (CLICK HERE for more details at the SpaceX site). Watch the full webcast below from the launch to land of the stage 1 and successful deployment of 11 satellites from stage 2 below.

Today is in Back to the Future 2

Photo Courtesy to Back to the Future Movie
Today, is the day Marty McFly traveled to the future in 'Back to the Future 2' - 21st October 2015. The internet is going on about this subject. The important point is that what predictions (more like assumptions) of a particular futuristic date and what we would have accomplished during that time is the main concern. Its like when countries and government come up with 5 year plans or 2020 target or 2030  or even 2050. Do we accomplish our things that we sent our mind to. I feel it is more like New Year Resolutions - what we have achieved during the previous year and will that drive us to accomplish anything during the rest of the 365 days. Some of the interesting set of videos to look out for the above subject are shown below.

The above video by Fine Brothers on Youtube give us a feel about how the young generation imagine what it will be like in the future - Things we imagine about the future as against what is really in the future. Example, flying cars were to be a thing in 2015 in 'Back to the future 2', but we are still way away from having a commercially viable flying car. Another video is about the Time Paradox effect of Time travelling by 'How it Should Have Ended'

Scientists usually say that we can make things happen or make but creativity and ideas are of those of writers. Similarly, the movies give a lot of ideas and many try to make them into reality, be it hoverboards or adjusting jackets. Below is a video on the adjusting jackets created by Instructables

Lexus came up with the most realistic & believable hoverboard video. The only thing for that to happen is the whole mechanism is placed below the hoverboard track with super cooled - super conductors - super magnetism concept to make it happen. There are multiple videos - 'It's Here', 'The Ride', 'The Science' , 'The Story', 'Hoverpark', 'Evolution' and 'Testing'.

The online community is coming up with what things Back to the Future got right or not. One such video is below.

Toyota pays homage to the Back to the Future series by promoting its new Mirai Hydrogen Fuel Car in an advertisement which stars Michael J. Fox (Marty McFly) and Christopher Lloyd (Doc Brown). Toyota made couple of videos leading to the main video - The Science behind Fueled by the Future, Fueled by the Future: 15, Diner, Clocks, and Statler Toyota 2015. Details of the advertisement can be seen HERE.

Connection between a mother and a child

Photo Courtesy of 'Pandora - Unique Connection'
The unique and beautiful connection between a mother and child truly cannot be summarized in a single video but a small fraction can be seen in the experiment conducted by Pandora Jewelry in their project 'The Unique Connection'. The kids are blind folded (of course with the permission of the mothers and in their presence) and asked to find their mother.

The video gives a small (very small) tribute to mothers around the world. The most amazing things about the video is that anyone can watch this video as language does not play a role. Similarly another video was put up and you can watch it below. (My first thought was that it was an advertisement for jeans or for a fashion line)

Across the internet many more videos are popping up with similar experiments being conducted. What I notice is that many parents are creating this kind of experiment at parties as an interesting party event. I am not sure whether it should be conducted, as i am sure many factors are considered when they do the above experiment. I am worried about the effect the child or the mother will go through if the outcome is unfavourable. Our society is not a supportive one (creative criticism). The video below is from 'inside edition' which explains about Pandora - The unique connection video.

Actual size of the solar system

We have seen the solar system model during our studies in schools and colleges, visits to planetariums, movies and internet. Turns out they are not in exact scale size. So a team of people tried to make it to scale size but needed a large open area to make us understand the size of the planet and sun and the path of the planet around the sun. The chose the open desert area of Nevada (U.S.A).

The team uploaded the behind the scenes and also the hard work they put up together to create the video. For our own understanding, we have always been taught how big the planets are and how far things are from each other. But to see a scale version gives us the understanding of enormity of the solar system or better yet the universe.

I hope these videos can be shown in schools and colleges to give us a better understanding and make us feel that Physics is cool and easy to understand.

Check to find out what their reaction is and what they think about slapping a girl. The video is in Italian with English Subtitles.

Based on the Fanpage social experiment, there has been a lot of parody videos which have been made. But the purpose of the above videos is to send a message out about a problem that we face and that resonates throughout the world. Hope we learn a lesson and are able to better ourselves.

Cymatics: Science Vs. Music

Cymatics by Nigel Stanford brings Science and Music together in this video. I have seen individual experiments done and one can find these videos on Youtube. Cymatic frequency that affect matter - be it salt, powdered material, tesla coils, water or even flames of fire. This video brings all of them together and creates its own rhythm. I came across this video on facebook first when a friend shared it.

The video can be viewed on HD or even 4K. All of the science experiments in the video are real. For the original video youtube link CLICK HERE. For Nigel Stanford's facebook page, CLICK HERE. Now watch the video below.
