Animated Short: Le Gouffre (The Gulf)

Photo Courtesy to Lightning Boy Studio
Le Gouffre is the first animated short film produced and directed by Lightning Boy Studio, a young creative team based in Montreal. The film tells the story of two spirited travelers who come across an incredibly wide chasm on their journey and decide to build a bridge to cross it. Released in February 2015, the project had first gained a lot of attention following the huge success of its Kickstarter campaign, which allowed the creators to finance the movie’s post-production. Many were impressed by the passion and determination of the small team of three animators, who spent more than two full years creating the 10-minute film.
As of now, Le Gouffre has been selected in more than 60 festivals around the world and won nine awards, four of them for “Best Animated Short”. For the complete list of selections and awards, please head over to the Awards page.

The next in GoPro - 6

GoPro brings us another set of amazing features and products with their latest release (28/09/2017). The more 2x performance Hero6 along with features like 4K60 and advanced stabilization, better image quality, more fun with slow motion and introducing Touch Zoom. The major upgrade comes in the QuikStories which helps in making Story using the GoPro app which automatically edits the footage that has been sent to the phone from the Hero6 (upgrades to the sharing have also taken place).  The QuikStory creates an epic video with music and effects using GPS location, time stamps, faces, audio and accelerometers to make a well coordinated story line. #QuikStories is the hashtag to check out already created content.

The other beautiful thing that comes out is FUSION. It captures immersive 360° videos in 5.2K to play back as VR. As the saying goes FUSION - Relive Reality. This will bring us a step closer to reality in VR. Experiencing adventures in VR is a whole new feel and closeness one can get.

The launch of Fusion should make some amazing 360° videos that upload to Social media (Like Facebook, Youtube and others) an amazing experience as most current cameras on the market just capture HD or around that. The amazing experience with Fusion is, to forget pointing the camera at a particular direction and just spending the time experiencing the adventure. This freedom will help in producing some amazing videos. See the below video in 360°.

The below OverCapture video is of the same 360 video above and one can tell the amazing features of OverCapture.

Examples: Waterproofing for certain depth which helps a lot during surfing, kayaking, swimming, jet-skiing and others. Another amazing feature of their Hero5 is the LCD which was missing previously due to their compact size and power backup. They have maintained their quality and upped their game in the video features also. The latest addition to the GoPro is Karma - flying drone with stabilizer. Photo Courtesy of John Lewis - Man on the moon
With Christmas around the corner, the advertisements have started to kick in. U.K. Retailer 'John Lewis' came out with an advertisement themed 'Man on the Moon'. Have a look at the video below

Only if the story had ended there, one of the earliest parody of the advertisement was up and about within hours. 'The Poke' came up with a Man on the moon - Star wars parody and uploaded it on Youtube which was taken down in 3 hours time and then again after clearing the fair usage policy stating that they did not offend either John Lewis fans or Star Wars fan was able to get video back online(Also no profits are being made from the video). Minesweeper Super Challenge

Photo Courtesy to Cinemassive - Minesweeper Super Challenge
Nostalgia is something this game brings back. Once you understand how this worked, the game gets you hooked trying to detect all the mines and then the time challenge. Ofcourse, then the size of the challenge. Starting with
  • Beginner : 10 mines (9 x 9 tile grid)
  • Intermediate : 40 mines (16 x 16 tile grid)
  • Advanced : 99  mines (16 x 30 tile grid)
There are more advance version available online and one such was solved and uploaded on Youtube. The game contained 1412 mines with a tile grid of 58 x 118 board. It took the user 59 mins 48 seconds to complete. The Time lapse video below is of 6:14 mins.

Then the question arises - What next? Looks like the people at Cinemassive are creative and also lovers of this game. They brought in something to make this more challenging. One of their impressive products are the Video Wall which contain an array of HD monitors or TV screens seemlessly connected to each other. They have gone and made a challenge of minesweeper which is epic due to its size, thus naming it the Minesweeper Super Challenge.

38,799 mines across 16 x HD video Wall.
Time limit 12 hours
3 attempts per user
Only 10 participants.

The Challenge video shown above is on 24 x HD video wall which was tested out by team that developed it and had a hard time doing so. Therefore the challenge has been put up. Read the conditions on their site. CLICK HERE (I will mention them below also)

Edge of Stability

Amazing time lapse footage from places across the planet. The video was uploaded on 10/07/2015.
Photo Courtesy to Jeff Boyce (All right reserved by him)
Jeff Boyce quotes in his vimeo site

A result of over 70,000 individual high resolution photos and nearly 20,000 miles of driving, "Edge of Stability" highlights some of the most unique, awe-inspiring, and incredibly strange sights on the planet. Recorded entirely over Spring of 2015, scenes include storm chasing adventures across 15 US states, displays of the Milky Way over desert landscapes, and the amazing Aurora Borealis over Canada.

The equipment I used includes two Canon 6D's, paired usually with a Rokinon 14mm f/2.8, Rokinon 24mm f/1.4, and a Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8.
